Memorial Day in Onondaga County
Memorial Day weekend was all about remembering and honoring, as it should be. I took part in parades and ceremonies in Oran, Manlius, the Village of Fayetteville and the Village of Minoa. It was nice to see so many turnout in honor of those who gave their lives for the freedoms we so enjoy today.
I also attended the Memorial Day Observance at the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The cemetery looked beautiful, with each gravesite adorned with an American flag. Thanks to our Onondaga County Veterans Service Agency and Onondaga Parks for their hard work planning and preparing for this ceremony.
Retired Captain Matthew J. Doran, Judge Advocate General
Corps, U.S. Navy, did an excellent job as this year’s keynote speaker. But it was a young boy, a 4th grader named Jasper, who brought us to tears. Click here to see him share what Memorial Day means to him.
