‘Important financial blueprint’: review of 2026 Onondaga County budget begins

Today, the Legislature began review of the Onondaga County Executive’s proposed 2026 budget. I want to take a moment to recognize and appreciate the hard work that went into developing this important financial blueprint for the year ahead and the future of our county.

This proposed budget is a strong starting point. But now the real work begins – carefully reviewing the details to ensure it reflects our values and priorities as a community. As your representative, I am committed to making sure this budget works for everyone in Onondaga County.

That means:

  • Ensuring we care for our most vulnerable residents
  • Supporting our veterans, seniors, and first responders
  • Strengthening our public safety agencies
  • Addressing mental health needs, especially in our schools
  • Making smart, forward-thinking investments in economic development
  • Preparing for the transformational impact of Micron and other exciting opportunities on the horizon

As we move through the review process, I look forward to working collaboratively with my fellow legislators to shape a final budget that our community can be proud of—one that lifts everyone up and keeps Onondaga County moving forward for years to come. Thank you, as always, for your support, trust, and commitment to our shared vision for a stronger, more inclusive future.
