Statement from Legislator Olson

Yesterday, my opponent posted about the news being reported that the County Executive is using funds from a project account designed for projects to help enhance the environment and public enjoyment. While the aquarium certainly fits under those parameters, it is important to note that these are funds provided by Honeywell International and not taxpayers.

It’s also important to share that the County Executive can use those funds without the Legislature’s approval.

I have stated previously my opposition to more taxpayer money being used for this project and I remain committed to that.

As far as my opponent’s ongoing feelings we should be supporting families, investing in infrastructure and building homes – I encourage her and anyone interested to actually look at all that’s happening in our county. We are doing all of that and more and this post would be extremely long if I listed all the ways. Sure, there is always something that can be done, because it is a never ending process. We are already doing more than many other counties and I encourage anyone who thinks otherwise to reach out so I can tell you how.
